If you are delicate move on.

Let's get this straight, I don't care what you think of me or what I'm doing. This blog is about crap that I like and crap that I'm doing. You don't have to look or read. Go somewhere else if things I say or do offend you. I like bikes, cars, naked women, and booze. Thats the content, you've been warned.

Dodge this..A100

So I've made very little progress on Rhonda the A100.

Christmas Day I jacked her up and pressure washed the undercarrige. Forgot to take pics...this should do though.

Today the windows came out so I can make the one piece glass templates.

Then rust repair will begin.

I have a three day weekend ahead and plan on pulling the motor and delivering the glass templates. I'll get new windshields, one piece door glass and replacements for the missing jalousie panes. Once that's done I'll rebuild the front end and add the disc brakes. I already have the caliper mounts from scarebird. All of this will be documented here and maybe on vintage-vans.com, though I really hate to post on forums. The end

Wish I had what it takes!

The A100 Project is moving forward...

I will post pics after the weekends progress. I need some more pics of custom A100s. Send em if you've got'em.

Crazy Dealin' Daze

I'm starting to feel like I'm running a used car lot. The truck is off with her new owner so, Rhonda gets her day in the sun. I'll build the A100 up and drive that for a while. Going to pull out the motor and open it up. I hope it won't take much. I'll put disc brakes on it and maybe I'll put an overdrive auto trans in there. Plus tons of body work and then paint.

I picked up a YZF600R about a month ago. The bike had been dropped and didn't run. A couple nights in the garage and she runs great. Doesn't look too bad either. It's for sale, of course, on Craigslist. Should make a nice commuter or entry level sportbike for someone.

We had a nice two weeks of fall and now it seems winter is here. Time to break out the flannel shirt.

I know you gals that read this get tired of the naked chics so heres one for you and YOU ARE WELCOME

"Where did whooo go?!"

Thirty seconds. We went like this, he went like that. I said to Hollywood, "Where'd he go?" Hollywood says, "Where'd who go?"

That's right I've been off the blog radar for a bit. Making more changes. Due to limited space and money I will be building motorcycles instead of cars. This was my wife's idea and it's hard to argue when she says 'just build bikes, that's what you love anyway'. Armed with this and a couple bucks I bought a YZF600R that was banged up and had some title issues. My wife sorted the title out and I've ordered the parts to make it whole. Then I'll sell it and hopefully make a couple bucks. This will help me buy a couple of projects for the winter that I'll build and sell come spring. Phew, things are changing finally.

I fixed some issues on the truck and have been driving it daily since July. Damn hot summer! The truck has been a loyal and faithful old thing but its time to let her go. I have her listed on Craigslist here- http://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/2647084532.html

I also have Rhonda, my A100 listed, on Craigslist here- http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cto/2640646471.html. However, Wifey just called from DMV and Rhonda now has current registration. The issue from day one was the $600 in DMV fees that had to be paid. I did some research and discovered that as a "car collector" the fees for old cars can be waived. So, I sent Wifey in (she charges me $100 by the way) with this info and bam, $260 including tax, she's registered. Now that its registered I might build it up real quick and drive it fro a while. I really didn't think    DMV would agree with my interpretation of the Vehicle Code.

The other thing I'm up to is working on other peoples bikes. Hopefully this will all lead to some fun. For right now though I better get to work...Here is some things to look at-

Belmont Ave. Hooker

That last posted reminded me of something odd that happened Wednesday morning on the way to work.

I leave for work a little before 6 in the morning. I get the pleasure of driving down Belmont Ave which, at least the stretch I drive, is the place of business for a LOT of hookers. Now, keep in mind I'm rolling through at six a.m. and there are hookers still out, these gals have been on the stroll all night. Gives me the hee bee gee bees just thinking about it. Well, Wednesday morning I'm coming up to a red light and an enterprising gal dramatically flips her hair to get my attention, which she does. I thought she was having a seizure anyway, when I look over she grabs the top of her soiled spaghetti strap shirt and yanks it down. Out flops these deflated fried egg titties. When your trying to sell your car do you highlight the big dent in the fender? No, of course not. Me being me I had to fight the urge to stop and take a picture because..well just because. Ugh! I just got the chills picturing that mess. I need a new visual!

Oh Shit! Can I make that turn?

Just hit a turning point on my old cars and I'm at a loss. I sold off The 20 Footer and also listed The SuperChicken and it sold. The idea was to band-aid my truck, share Wifey's car since she is unemployed, and build Rhonda my A100. This morning I started the band-aiding in earnest and when the oil pan came off discovered that the motor is more shot than I realized. Those old FE motors are tough. Both head gaskets are leaking a bit, the intake seal is bad, every other seal has at least seepage, and now I find the timing chain is looser than a Belmont Ave. hooker. Shit! I always said if I rebuild this motor I would make it nice. But, I'm not ready to build it yet. I really wanna start on the A100. Agh!

I could still brush back my mullet and band-aid it.

Or do I bend over and spend the money to build it

So now I need to make a choice. Band-aid FE or fast FE.

Oh how things change

So my trusty old SuperHawk is up for sale. I of course fixed all the little issues and now its a better bike than while I rode it. Ad says $2500 but I'll take quite a bit less.

I'm also putting the 20 Footer up Sold for sale. Again, I fixed all the remaining issues and it goes down the road really nice. For this I will also take a lot less than asking price.

Time to thin the herd and get on with Rhonda the A100 van that I have. Now that I've moved and no longer commute I find I have lots more time to work projects but, have little patience for working on stuff that's not for fun. Doesn't help that I wrench all day at work too.

Dork with his camera phone.

That's the best you can do?

Moving will ruin your life, then it gets better. I've finally got the new garage into some working order. Now its time to fix the poor truck. About a week before we moved I figured I better look her over since I planned on using her to move. Well, things weren't great. I was introduced to tranny fluid and coolant, an amazing combo.

It seems the tranny cooler sprung a leak. What a freakin mess! So, of course a radiator for a 1966 F100 is around 400 bucks. I'm cheap so after some research I figured out a substitute that bolted right up and cost $120 new. Plus there is room now to mount an A/C condenser. The next part of Peggys saga is the actual move. We moved 40 miles away so there were a number of fully loaded high speed trips. The last trip with a huge load in the back I decided to stick my foot in it and pass some knucklehead that was crawling along. After a loud and successful pass I let off the gas and poof, giant cloud of smoke. Well, I pulled off and saw tranny fluid everywhere. Keeping in mind it was the last load and I was only 2 miles away I finished the trip. She made it into the drive then puked all over the place. So there she sat for the last 3 weeks. With no money to fix her but time on my hands without the commute I decided to finally paint the wheels.

I tried out the Dupli-Color premixed lacquer. I figure for $20 a can and not needing a large quantity this would be a good time to try it. I used my cheapo Harbor Freight gun. I shot white with Cloud Nine white flake. The paint was pretty easy to work with, decent coverage. I'm going to use it on other parts of the truck.

So ugly

No, I didn't take my time for prep.

Primer

White base color

Finished

I'll install them tomorrow and take some after pics. Flake is a bitch to capture on film. This is a quicky job so don't judge my crappy prep and mask. Next is a lime green pinstripe on the lip and bullet center caps.

Ah shit time to move!

So, my spring plans have been crumpled up and tossed into the can. No shooting paint, no mechanical mayhem, no fun aloud. We have decided to move off the hill. Found a great old house in a great part of town. Hope the neighbors don't get pissed at the sound of hammer on metal or the compressor. The upside is no more 80 mile commute! I won't have to just keep the old cars running I can actually make them better. If you have ever relied on old vehicles to take you far on a daily basis you know how much time and energy is spent just keeping them alive. Well, I won't have internet for a few days so I won't update, your crushed I can tell by the silence. Lord how will I keep up with whats cool? Will Pendletons go out of fashion, will flake be so last week, oh crap?! I guess I'll be the new retro. Ok that last was stupid but I am a little frustrated to see my life be co-opted by the cool kids. I hope they get bored and move on soon. Gotta go pack the garage.

Old Age

This might be a bit of a rant but...

I think something men fear as they get older is being irrelevant or marginalized. As I've gained wrinkles I've come to realize that the fear has some basis but, it's the men that are marginalizing themselves. They tend to insulate themselves and shrink their world up so small; I suppose to stay the big fish. Rather than keep their minds and ears open they shut off and down. At one time they could have amazing and open conversations about a myriad of subjects. Now, unfortunately, they just get louder and close their ears and minds to any other opinion. Rather than persuade, as they once did, their voice gets louder and tone more stern as if to say you're too stupid to waste time convincing. The result is those of us that came to them for guidance or interesting conversation go elsewhere, there by marginalizing them.

My hope for myself is to stay out in the world and continue to experience new and amazing things. Constantly broaden my horizons to keep my world big and exciting. Though I'm an opinionated overbearing asshole, I do listen to what people say and sometimes even find my opinions shifting. In car terms I may not like tubbed hot rods with yellow paint but I can always appreciate the work and feeling it probably gives the owner. I won't put it down or slight the effort. Anyway sorry if you read this whole thing and let me make it up to you with hot chicks and good music.

Holy Crap...

...I'm glad I don't build his wheels. Dude has gigantic balls that must clank when he walks!

Coffee in Afghanistan

Now maybe this was funnier to me because I spent four days last week living off fucking MRE's or maybe its just funny.

Kandy for me

I'm going to shoot some copper and purple candy stripes on the 20 Footer and have been wondering whether that combo will look good. I opened No One Rides for Free today and looky here the template for the 20 Footer and it has copper and purple candy on it and...it looks good. Not only did I see this van but, the kandy colors and some other supplies arrived today. Now if I can just get some time off work and decent weather.

Slickfoot found on No One Rides for Free

Oh this should be fun!
Once the stripes are laid down I will be on the hunt for a front spoiler.

Why do I want to change the shape of your face?

Now, I already know that I'm not for public consumption. I hold a lot of the people I come in contact with in disdain. Most people that are around me know this as well. So, its not a great idea to ask for my help then, while standing in front of a pile of twisted junk that you created, talk to me like I'm the idiot. I've been wrenching on junk for 20+ years and have learned a couple of things. I continue to learn all the time. That's why I still do it. I assume that's why my help was requested. I need to go back to being a hermet. Rant over. Pretty girls to ease the pain.
